“It is important to establish effective treatment for postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common complication after cardiac surgery. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of landiolol

hydrochloride for rhythm conversion in patients with postoperative AF. Among 134 patients who developed new-onset AF after open heart surgery between 2007 and 2009, 69 patients who received landiolol hydrochloride for treatment of postoperative AF were Akt inhibitor enrolled. The AF conversion rate, the percentage of patients with 20 % reduction of the ventricular rate, and the factors related to successful treatment were evaluated. Then, the landiolol group was compared with 65 patients who had postoperative AF and did not receive landiolol hydrochloride. Landiolol hydrochloride was the first-line treatment in 46 patients and the only therapy in 26 patients. Reversion to sinus rhythm was achieved in 51 patients, while the conversion rate in patients without landiolol hydrochloride was only 56.8 % (p < 0.05). Wide ranges of mean and individual levels of severity of symptoms, UDI and IIQ scores were seen among women seeking surgical treatment. Methods: Eight patients who were registered at the BD Specialty Clinic of Severance Hospital between 2004 and 2008 underwent FDG-PET scans to evaluate the cardiovascular presentations associated with BD. Medical records and FDG-PET images of the patients were retrospectively reviewed to determine the clinical significance of the cardiovascular findings.

Results: The median quantitative FDG uptake index was 1.46 (range, 0.58-2.61). Results: Three hundred and thirty-seven patient charts were reviewed. Fasting TG concentrations were greatest following the high-sugar diet (mean +/- SEM for all subjects 1900 +/- 420 mu mol/l) and lowest following high-fat (1010 +/- 130 mu mol/l) (P = 0.001); high-starch (mean 1500 +/- 310) and high-fat did not differ significantly (P = 0.06). There was a greater effect in the diabetic subjects (diet x diabetes status interaction, P = 0.008). Postprandial TG concentrations were similarly affected by prior diet (P < 0.001) with each diet different from the others (P < 0.01).
